Why the city of Red Wing will soon enjoy ultra-fast broadband

What does Red Wing have in common with Seoul? Blazing internet speeds. It will soon, anyway. The city has been selected for U.S. Ignite, a private-public cooperation launched by the White House and tasked with installing ultra-fast fiber-optic broadband in 25 cities across the nation (us-ignite.org). The city can expect online speeds that are many times faster than normal. It's hoped the extra bandwidth will encourage the development of innovative new apps, tools, and services. Red Wing, by far the smallest of the chosen cities, is also helping to develope a 10,000 square foot business incubator that's slated to open "downtown" this summer and host about 30 companies.
