New Bridge Construction Starting in 2017

30 Jan 2017

The Eisenhower Bridge that crosses the Mississippi River is currently 1,631 feet long, 35 feet wide, and stands 65 feet above the river is currently being reviewed to be replaced with a structurally sound bridge and improve traffic mobility on highways in the Red Wing commercial/historic district. Other benefits will maintain or improve the pedestrian/bicycle traffic facilities.

As the bridge currently carries an average of 13,300 vehicles per day (2012 county), a key issue would be to maintain traffic on the crossing to the maximum extent possible because the Eisenhower Bridge provides the only regional crossing of the river for approximately 30 miles upstream and downstream.
