River Renaissance
13 Feb 2017
In an effort to become Minnesota’s premier river town, the City of Red Wing is requesting $13 million in bonds to drive tourism and spur economic development in the area. The vision includes building a transient dock to accommodate larger riverboats, reconfiguring Levee Road to minimize water flooding, to complete and reconfigure the Mississippi River Walk trail, and other small river access projects.
The Mississippi River Trail would be parallel to the river alongside the train tracks so that any hikers or bicyclists will be able to travel to the 340-foot Barn Bluff, which is a nationally recognized historic site.
