MN economic development agency to hire assistant commissioner for immigrant affairs

Citing a desire by Gov. Tim Walz to welcome new immigrants and refugees to Minnesota, the state office in charge of workforce development announced it will be creating a new assistant commissioner position to do just that.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development announced this week they’ll be hiring an assistant commissioner for immigrant and refugee affairs.

“Recognizing the vitally important role that new Americans play in Minnesota’s culture and economy, our state is renewing its promise to be a place where immigrants and refugees feel welcomed, supported, and valued,” the department said in a news release.
