The Timberwolves have teamed up with Treasure Island Resort & Casino and the Prairie Island Indian Community to bring awareness to the Bdewakantunwan Dakota Tribal Nation and its rich heritage, traditions and culture. Through a four-part educational content series, we will show how the Prairie Island Indian Community is proud of its heritage, preserves its traditions, protects its land and environment, and keeps the spirit alive for the next seven generations.
Part 1: The Prairie Island Community’s Tribal historic preservations office works tirelessly to protect and preserve places of cultural significance that are important to the Bdewakantunwan Dakota Tribal Nation. The He Mni Can restoration project in Red Wing is one example of the work that is vital to restoring and protecting the heritage of the Prairie Island Indian Community Dakota oyate (people).
The Minnesota Real Estate Journal and the Red Wing Port Authority held a summit for the commercial real estate community including (site selectors, commercial real estate brokers, developers and investor, owners and builders). The Micropolitan Summit gave our community an opportunity to showcase our town and the economic development opportunities we have to offer.
The Mississippi River Parkway Commission of Minnesota has just completed a series of Minnesota Great River Road videos. There are seven videos: one giving an overview of the entire Minnesota Great River Road, and one highlighting each of the six destination areas/regions. Red Wing is featured in the sixth video of the series, which focuses on the Bluffs region. Several local businesses are highlighted, including Red Wing Pottery and Falconer Vineyards Winery.
