When she was growing up in the Twin Cities Jewish Community in St. Louis Park, Andrea Ferstan learned two Hebrew words that would inspire her to fix the things around her that she could.
“Tikkun olan” translates to “repair the world.” Ferstan, who was recently named as the first executive director of the Greater Metropolitan Workforce Council, has long been working toward that goal in her professional life, which has centered on linking people with jobs.
Her career path is rooted in social justice, something she a learned from watching her mother work in the Minnesota Department of Health. She was also inspired by the people around her.
