River Bluff Humane Society has been caring for the animals of Goodhue County since 1983, and, with the new leadership of Shelter Director Liz Zolondek, it has been named Nonprofit of the Year for the past two consecutive years.
“We won last year, which was a huge surprise because it was my first year as the shelter manager and I didn’t even know it was an option,” Zolondek said. “This year, I really wanted it because we worked really hard to make positive changes, get out into the community and get involved. So, I was excited that we got it and it was kind of a validation that we’re doing the right things.”
