3M Fall Protection in Red Wing Named Outstanding Disability Employer
Nominated by ProAct, Inc., 3M Fall Protection was named an Outstanding Disability Employer by the Minnesota Organization for Habilitation and Rehabilitation, MOHR, during National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October. This valuable partnership with ProAct, Inc. is being recognized as a model for other employers.
“Employers who hire individuals with disabilities and work crews are important partners in our efforts to provide person-centered services that improve people’s lives in Minnesota,” said Julie Johnson, president of MOHR. “The 3M staff works with ProAct job coaches to bring out the highest potential in each person,” said Joyann Johnson, a designated coordinator for ProAct in Red Wing. A sizable work crew assembles parts for numerous types of safety equipment used by linemen, bridge builders and other professionals. 3M Focus Factory Leader Dustin Rassier said ProAct crews provide top notch work. “We are sending out product that ultimately has somebody’s life in the balance, so we depend on quality products going out the door,” said Rassier. “They fit right in with our culture.”

main streetRed Wing Banners Art Corridor

Main Street’s light poles now adorn banners that spotlight Red Wing’s history and character. Fabric Banners on the sides of Main Street (Hwy 61) include city themes – Nature, Arts, History, Commerce, and Welcome. These themes are presented in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Dakota, and the languages of our Sister Cities in China, Japan, and Norway. Between the fabric theme banners are unique and original metal banners like one in the pictured in the photo on the left.

The Banners Art Corridor is a cooperative venture among Downtown Main Street, The Jones Family Foundation, Red Wing Area Fund and the City of Red Wing. Design work for the banners was done by Wendy Amundson of Night Owl Graphics, and the metal banners were produced by Curly’s Welding, both businesses located in Red Wing.
