    May 6, 2024

The Red Wing Port Authority is excited to celebrate Economic Development Week (EDW) from May 6th - May 10th. EDW, established by the International Economic Development Council, highlights the importance of economic development in our region and across the globe.

Economic development is crucial to Red Wing’s growth and prosperity. It encompasses various initiatives, from attracting new businesses to supporting existing ones, creating new job opportunities, and enhancing our community's overall quality of life.

“The Red Wing Port Authority believes in assisting in a strong quality of place,” said Shari Chorney, Port Authority Manager. Here’s how the Port Authority supports that vision.

Understanding the Role of The Red Wing Port Authority

At its core, economic development involves a range of activities to attract, create, and retain jobs to foster a resilient and growing economy. Driving Economic Development: How The Red Wing Port Authority Supports Business Success

There are several incentives and initiatives that The Red Wing Port Authority has in place for residents who want to start a business. The Community Development Department is responsible for driving economic growth through empowering local businesses.

Small business owners are encouraged to take advantage of the Small Business Development Center, which provides the professional expertise and guidance that business owners need to flourish. This statewide network provides training and educational resources across Minnesota.
