Lake City to receive MPCA grant for infrastructure
July 9, 2024
Lake City will receive a state grant of $71,000 to help the city prepare its infrastructure for extreme weather caused by climate change.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) announced June 26 that eight cities in Greater Minnesota will receive a total of $500,000 to support their plans to improve and upgrade stormwater and drainage systems and prevent flooding. The individual grants to the cities range from $27,000 to $156,000.
Lake City plans to use the grant to develop an inventory of its existing storm drains to assess flood risks and make recommendations for stormwater infrastructure improvements, according to the MPCA.
