City approves contracts for police body cameras, more

During the July 28 Red Wing City Council meeting, the Council approved two five year contracts for body cameras, squad cameras, digital evidence storage and traffic light cameras for the Red Wing Police Department.
“Axon includes three main things in this contract, the body camera system we have for our body cameras, it includes our in-car camera and it includes our digital storage,” Police Chief Nick Sather said.
Sather explained the importance of why this technology is needed for the Police Department. The newer technology allows officers to engage with more people in an efficient way.
