“I do and I understand"

Hundreds of alumni, students and supporters gathered last weekend to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Red Wing Environmental Learning Center, an organization that has shaped generations of local youth through outdoor experiences and hands-on learning. The celebration spanned two days, Oct. 3-4, with a series of events that reflected the center’s spirit — from a canoe flotilla on the Mississippi River to a wild edible potluck and evening program under a tent at Colvill Park.

Since 1970, the Environmental Learning Center, or ELC, has focused on building confidence, friendships and a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
