There’s Still Plenty of Summer Fun in Red Wing, MN!

    August 5, 2026

Independence Day celebrations are in the rear view mirror, but summer is still very young in Red Wing, MN. A bustling downtown, scenic surrounding bluffs, and being right on the picturesque Mississippi River make it a charming place to enjoy the season. Countless fun warm-weather activities and events appeal to the whole family.

    Outdoor Delights

Fans of the outdoors will fall in love with Red Wing’s 35 parks within its city limits, as well as a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages. The Cannon Valley Trail is a popular destination and activity for hikers, offering stunning views of the Cannon River. A National Recreation Trail that follows the path of the old Chicago Great Western Railway, the Cannon Valley Trail takes travelers through a diverse environment, featuring wetlands, rolling farmland, exposed rock ridges, river bluffs, and more.

He Mni Can-Barn Bluff is another local outdoor staple in Red Wing. One of the best-known geological features along the upper Mississippi River, He Mni Can-Barn Bluff is unique in its geology, association with prehistoric and Native peoples, and relevance to westward exploration. Those who ascend the bluff will be treated to an unparalleled view of Red Wing and the surrounding area.

A great place to spend the day outside in Red Wing is Memorial Park, situated atop Sorin’s Bluff. Remarkable views of the city, hiking and biking trails, open spaces to explore, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and a disc golf course await all visitors.
