The Red Wing City Council plans to open the hiring process for its next administrator to external and internal candidates, but not all of its members are on board with the idea.
Councilors Becky Norton and Vicki Jo Lambert opposed the council’s motion April 8 to move forward with a search that includes both internal and external candidates, calling it “inappropriate” and “disrespectful” to city employees. The council’s motion wasn’t listed as an option for discussion in the agenda documents and the motion was too far off from what was included, Norton said.
