Affordable Housing Coming Spring 2020
In October 2018, the Red Wing City Council approved a plan by Keller-Baartman Properties to build two new developments. The plan will result in up to 250-units being built on two different sites. One site will be northeast of Walmart on Tyler Road. The other will be southwest of the Mayo Clinic Health System Red Wing. The units will be apartments and townhouses and will include affordable housing and housing for seniors.
The affordable housing project will be constructed in phases. Phase 1 is expected to comprise of 108 residential rental multi-family affordable housing units and 32 3-bedroom townhome units within 8 separate buildings all with 4 units. Phase 2 is expected to consist of a 78-unit senior housing project for people 55+ and assisted living. Phase 3 is expected to consist of another 32 3-bedroom townhome units within 8 buildings and all with 4 units. Of the units planned, 100 will be designated as affordable.
Work on Phase 1 of the project will begin in early 2019 and will be completed in 2020. The entire project will take five years to complete and cost $46 million.
