Four Red Wing students compete in Make48 challenge
May 19, 2025
Red Wing High School students accepted the Make48 challenge: They had 48 hours to design a product, build a prototype, create a sales sheet, produce a 1-minute marketing video and prepare a four-minute presentation to pitch their idea to judges.
Juniors Gavin Plath and Bentley Ricks and freshmen Tristan Wilczynska and Seth Ziemer traveled to Minnesota State College Southeast’s Winona campus May 2-4 for the first Make48 event held in the state. Wingers and six other teams had access to expert tool technicians along with high-tech equipment to build almost anything that would address their challenge: workplace safety in manufacturing.
A giant clock started ticking once the challenge was revealed. Step 1 was choosing a specific safety concern and then digging into the complexities.
